A firecracker puts Upper Iowa into lockdown

My how times have changed.  The sound of a firecracker going off put the college in a lockdown.

While at Coe a friend, who shall remain anonymous  (but he did send me some great Halloween pictures with pugs in them) purchased a 1/4 stick of dynamite.  He decided to wait to set it off while all of the residential life staff were in a meeting.

So, I'm sitting in this meeting with all of the other RA's and *boom*!  The sound was an explosion.  We jumped up and ran to where the noise came from.  We found a foot and half hole in the grassy quad.  Of course, none the residents from my 2E floor were anywhere around.

Imagine an event like that today.  In today's world the FBI would be called in.

Oh, we live in different times!
