Spring is here...

... but it feels more like summer with highs in the 90's. It cools down to about 70 at night. The gradual warm up is like the gradual cool down last fall: So gradual you can't point to one day and say, "This is the day it got hot." I'm used to the dramatic changes of Iowa weather. It simply doesn't happen here.

Here's your weather trivia of the day: Average temperatures rise more in March than in any other month of the year. The average high for Cedar Rapids is 39 at the beginning of March and 53 at the end of March.

I'm still trying to get over missing a St. Patrick's Day with a high of 75.

Weather trivia

In 2008 Cedar Rapids temperatures have been below normal every month. I don't know when we last went nine months into a year with below normal temperatures. September was the closest to normal month of the year - less than a degree below normal.
Great, the weather turns normal after I leave.
On October 3, 1997, I was working weather and it was memorable: The high in Cedar Rapids was 94 degrees.
The weather here is surprisingly nice. Yes, it's still too hot to stand in the sun in the middle of the day, but it's really not that bad.
