An open letter to John McCain

Dear Senator McCain –

Please don’t cry.

You are an American hero. We all love you, a little less lately, but, if you cry many will feel sorry for you. You should have won in 2000. I wanted Gore, but we all know you’d have been better than W. I went to see you last year at the Five Season’s Center. I was one of the few not eligible for a discount at Denny’s. As I watched you I thought, “How did the Republicans pick W. over you?”

It was at this time before the New Hampshire primary that Hillary shed tears. I saw it, the nation saw it, and certainly, the voters in New Hampshire saw it. Just a few days earlier I had caucused for Barack in Iowa. When I saw Hillary I felt sorry for her. If I lived in New Hampshire I’d have probably voted for her, too, because Barack appeared to have it locked up. Why not give Hillary a bone? Why not vote for Hillary?

If you cry now millions of Americans will feel the same way. They’d love to throw a vote to you and a bone to Palin. This is the game changer you have been looking for.

For the sake of my party, please don’t cry.

Steve

  1. Not going to happen. And New Hampshire is a different breed and pride themselves on "not going with the flow".

It would seem quite false if he cried - he has come across as pretty bitter and angry. Tears would not work.

    At least I hope not!
