Levothyroxine

You've probably never heard of it. It's the generic form of synthroid - another drug you've probably never heard of. I must take levothyroxin because I have no thyroid output. The thyroid regulates many things in the body... without the medicine I'd of been dead in 2002.

I came to the Emirates with a supply to last me though early February. In December I started rationing; purposefully skipping taking the pill.

Why? I feared getting my blood drawn.

In the last month I've been averaging less than 3 pills a week. The result has been that I am experiencing all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism: Tired all the time, sluggish, difficulty to concentrate and, oddly enough, a thick tongue. It sometimes sounds like I'm drunk in the middle of the day.

In desperation I went to the pharmacy to see if I could get it without seeing a doctor and getting blood drawn.

Sure, no problem. And it's even cheaper than the generic is in the US.

So I've been living miserably for for three months for no reason.

  1. Never mind my previous question.

I have never understood people's fear of getting blood drawn. It doesn't hurt....or if it does, it is brief. Be glad you aren't diabetic and have to poke yourself several times a day or, worse yet, inject yourself with insulin. Small children learn to deal with it.....and you are how old now?
