I read on FirstRead yesterday that Specter outranks Senator Harkin on an Appropriations subcommittee. Harkin is currently the chair and uses his clout to help bring home the bacon - like the grant to ISU to study hog effluent. If he loses this post it will be a loss to Iowa. The reports say that no committee changes will be made during this congress. I'm fairly certain Harkin won't give it up without a fight.
Yes, I look for any excuse to mention hog effluent.
