I can't remember what celery costs in the US, but my memory is that it's cheap. I paid $3.50 for this here and was told it usually much more expensive.
Oh yeah, that's the bad thing about celery. No taste. I always fill them with peanut butter and raisins. And you always get stringy pieces stuck in your teeth. Is it really worth all the trouble?
I de-vein my celery before eating it... The heart of celery is good to eat with nothing but salt... but go out two layers and it needs something more. I've never considered raisins. Hmmm.
We just bought the same amount of celery, maybe a little more, and it cost $1.50.
ReplyDeleteJust so you know.
Also, did you know that your body burns more calories digesting the celery than there are calories in the actual celery itself?
I had heard that and that's why I bought it.
ReplyDeleteBut the fact I downed half a jar of peanut butter while eating it probably didn't help!

I respectfully disagree. Celery does have a taste and a smell, and they're both terrible. Celery is an evil vegetable.

ReplyDeleteOh yeah, raisins on top of the peanut butter - it's that classic "ants on a log" snack!
