Burger King ad revisited

When I posted this the other day I cropped off the bottom of the ad. The text is an unsavory as the picture:
Fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-grilled with the NEW BK SUPER SEVEN INCHER. Yearn for more after you taste the mind-blowing burger that comes with a single beef patty, topped with American cheese, crispy onions and the A1 Thick and Hearty Steak Sauce.
Years ago Hardee's (parent company is Carl's Jr.) decided to go for the teen male market. Young guys are not cost conscious when it comes to a big juicy, umm, burger. They had to completely rebrand the company and even ran ads saying, "Where the last place you'd go for a burger becomes the first."

Carl's Jr. also used sex to sell the burgers.
Apparently seeing Paris Hilton hold an enormous burger that she'd never possibly eat is a turn-on for guys.

The ads worked and sales spiked. Burger King, however, has tried the same maneuver without as much success. The creepy "King" ads and the appeal to sex is not the right move in a recession. McDonald's is seeing huge growth while BK languishes.

BTW, the blow job ad is not running in the US. It is running on outdoor ads in Singapore. As the link above explains the US ad agency is already distancing itself from the ad saying it was a local Singapore agency, not theirs, that produced it.
