Last week - before the resignation bombshell - there were several unflattering stories. Here's a quick rundown:
The week of bad news started with the very long Vanity Fair article. There was not much new in it but it did summarize all of McCain's aids' fears about Palin.
Which led to cross accusations about who was leaking information.
CBS dug up some e-mails that show that Palin asked the McCain campaign to lie about her husband's involvement in the Alaska secession party.
Salon followed up analyzing the Pro-Palin and anti-Palin forces within the Republican party.
Even one of her biggest conservative supporters published a negative article just hours before her announcement.
Another conservative writes (again just before the resignation) that those who McCain aids that think she's a whack job should come forward.
It's remarkable that ALL of this happened in the four days before Palin's announcement.
