Linn county is voting now. If I were home I'd be voting for it, very reluctantly.
I think for most voters it comes down to loss in faith of the city and county leaders (most all Democrats). They will way that loss in faith vs. the need to get something done.
I hate the tax. Of all the ways to raise revenue this is my LEAST favorite. But voting in a vacuum - it's either this or nothing - we have no choice but this.
I've read the opposition carefully in the Gazette. They did nothing to explain what they would do if the issue is voted down.
Going out on a limb here: I think it will pass. Not because it's good, but the opposition did not have a coherent alternative plan.
When I wake up in the morning I'll find out if I was right.
Update: It won and won by a larger margin than I expected. Man, I hate sales tax. I wish they could have come up with any other way to fund this, but alas, it was the only game available... and voting "No" was not really an option if CR has any hope to rebuild.
Sad.
