When test writing becomes geak speak

I know it's time to take a break from writing a test when I find myself writing a question like this:

A system where all employees create goals and their performance is measured against those goals is called:
A. MBO
B. TQM
C. TMI
D. PDA
E. ROFLOL

9 comments:

  1. MBO - Management By Objectives... since you don't use the abbreviations I'll explain the joke: TQM means Total Quality Management (which is a real answer).

    The other answers:
    TMI - Too much information
PDA - Public Display of Affection
ROFLOL - Roll On The Floor Laughing Out Loud.

Hmmm, since I never use these terms, I'm not sure if it is supposed to be ROTFLOL or ROFLOL. Either way, it's not the right answer.

  2. I had to look it up. ROFLOL and ROTFLOL are both OK. I guess it's up to you if you want to a "the" in there.

  3. I didn't get one of these and I am allegedly part of this generation. What does that say about you Mr. Kranz?

  4. That I'm using slang that's out of date. I actually said "word" with a friend last week and she laughed at how out of date I am.

    PDA, right?

  5. That slang is definitely not out of date and is used very frequently in chat rooms and places like Facebook (which you joined)by adults as well as the younger generation. Guess you don't read many posts on FB....or maybe your Friends are too sophisticated to use the slang!! ROFLMFAO (do you know that one?)

  6. True, I don't have friends who use the terms much. Perhaps it's because I start to make fun of them on the second LOL.

  7. But are you really laughing out loud?

  8. Maybe there should be an "IATAS"

    I almost thought about smiling.
That's how most internet funny-ness is for me.
