Nepal Day 4 - Elephant breeding center

These elephants spend the day in the jungle but return here every night to be fed. I am a photographer who views videographers as a rival. (Nobody wants to see your wedding video but they do want to see your wedding pictures...) However, I must admit no picture can do this scene justice.
The elephants were bobbing their heads in rhythm. One was taking two steps forward and two steps back over and over. They were positively dancing!
These balls of grass with molasses inside was the treat they dancing for...
Mom feeds her baby.
Here the baby is trying to learn how to pick things up.
After being fed it was time to rest.

  1. That rocking back and forth is very often also a stress reaction to being restrained.
