Seeing that eastern Iowa is expecting highs in the upper 80's and lower 90's in the next few days I wondered, "What kind of summer am I headed home for?"
Fortunately, the National Weather Service says it shouldn't be too bad.
We are forecast to have temps below normal for the months of June, July and August. That will make 2,900,000 Iowans happy and a few -like my sister Miriam - unhappy.
Okay, technically I'm not an Iowan. But I do NOT want it to be as cool as it was last summer. It didn't even feel like summer last year. Of course, our temps in Minnesota are probably somewhat cooler - but it rarely got above 80 last year. And a lot of days were in the 50s/60s - in JULY! Now, I like moderate temps for the most part, but it also was windy and cloudy. I want to have a summer that is at least WARM - but not TOO hot for too long... Probably too much to ask.

I have thoroughly enjoyed these past few hot days! Last summer was just not right.
