Word of the day: Fortuitous

As I measured windows in my new apartment I was very happy: The office area can have the curtains in my two bedrooms now that let in a lot of light. What I want as my bedroom in my new place can have the kitchen curtains that Ann got for me that don't let in much light.

That makes sense if you read it slowly.

The goal of the day was buying a few things at Ikea that I don't already have. I'm looking at curtains with Ann trying to judge which curtain would work best in the guest bedroom. She says, "This (green curtain) will match your bedroom curtain." I say, "Oh, no, THIS green curtain will match it." Then I realize SHE bought the original curtain.

So how do you own up to realizing you're a dumbshit? I smiled and said, "No, really, THIS is the one!"

Ann smiled back and said, "You just keep telling yourself that."

Fortuitous is the word for the day. The fact that the three curtains I had bought last fall would work this spring is not a given. Windows and open light exposures here vary so much that the odds of this happening are quite low. I'm feeling lucky.

It's time to feel good. Perhaps, I'm even walking on sunshine.

  1. Hmmmmmmm You have a new apartment with essentially no furniture, including a bedroom with no bed b/c silly you is making the master bedroom into a guest room with your queen bed in it, and you go to Ikea and buy nothing but curtains? Again, explain so it makes sense.

  2. I'm not buying new furniture because in a month or two those leaving the country will be selling theirs.

As for the bedroom choice, you asked a couple of posts back and I answered there.

  3. I still don't get the logic behind your bedroom choice. But, if you are happy with it that's all that matters.

Please don't buy a mattress someone else has used.
