Weekend remainders

Google offers suggestions based on searches others have made. It's interesting to see the difference in searches between men and women.

An Iowa guy wishes his wife a happy birthday by writing it out with hog manure.

Being super duper endowed does not necessarily = employment.

A guy robbed a restaurant and thought the chicken smelled so good he stopped to eat some. He's no doubt rethinking that decision in prison.

Ever thought about the evolution of video games? For my fellow geeks, here's a timeline.

For the political geeks: There's a new book Game Changer that has lots of juicy gossip from the 2008 campaign. Here's a rundown of the best gossip. And here's an excerpt from the book about the Edwards debacle.

And finally, more disturbing news from this country: A Brit is found with a grain of cannabis smaller than a grain of sand under his shoe and is sentenced to four years. And then there's this.

  1. I was totally going to call fake on that google search, but then I did the search myself. That's pathetic!

  2. I still get sick every time I think about Edwards. That excerpt did not help matters. I am usually not such a terrible judge of character - although I never had a face-to-face conversation with him. I did shake his hand in Iowa in 2004 when most of the candidates spoke in Cedar Rapids. Usually I get some sort of vibe - but I guess he wasn't the megalomaniac at that time, so maybe it wouldn't have come through then. And I wouldn't have gathered that Elizabeth was so horrible... But, you can't always believe everything you read either!

  3. Loved the video game timeline. I liked Asteroids, but adored Galaga -- was top scorer at my local skating rink forever! :)

I feel sorry for the guy who's... well, packing... there IS actually a point at which it can be TOO big... and I'd say he's surpassed that by a long way!

  4. I've heard those size stories about Shaq and Dennis Rodman, but never read any published reports containing complaints.

I guess I am inclined to call bogus on the final story about the 'grain of cannabis'. Seems a bit far fetched...and what were the authorities doing looking at the bottom of his shoes anyway? Must be more to the story.

  5. OK So I went back and read the story which made me totally lose respect for UAE. It is one thing to have a zero tolerance for DRUGS. I can accept that. But clearly the airport cops are guilty of profiling, at least in this case. Wonder if they asked the guy where he had been. If he said Ethiopia and they saw his dreds, they would have started putting things together .... Ethiopia + dreds = (perhaps) Rastafarian = (perhaps) marijuana. However, to say a spec of marijuana on the bottom of a shoe, comparable to the size of a grain of sugar and invisible to the naked eye constitutes
'DRUGS' is just absurd no matter how anti-drugs you are. Now, if additional 'DRUGS' were found on this man, that is another story... but one would have to wonder how a fact like that would have been left out of the article.

  6. I think I may have put too many remainders in one post.

Gina - My favorite is to click on the "blow" request and see that the first link is a TEEN forum.

Sandy - Yes, I also believe that you can't believe everything you read but there's been no pushback on the veracity of the book (besides Palin).

Adrienne - Galaga is simply the best. A friend in the US has the game in his basement... along with Tron, Tempest, Joust, Centipede and a collection of great pinball games. I would never leave the house.

Peachie - arresting someone for a spec of drugs on his shoes is very frightening. There's no way to sugarcoat it.
