One of the Aaron's who comments on the blog has announced a run for one of the "at large" positions on the Cedar Rapids City Council.Cedar Rapids has been stuck in neutral since the devastating floods of '08. Too many older politicians have been paralyzed in their thinking. Unable to make decisions they have turned to expensive outside consultants.
If I had my way the new City Council would be composed of young professionals who plan to make Cedar Rapids home for the next several decades. They have the energy and the incentive to get it right. They would not be tied to old ways of thinking and the "Oh, we can't do that" attitude that has gripped too many of the current leaders.

ReplyDeleteI just read the last 3-4 days of The Gazette, and it mentioned how few people are planning to run AND that the deadline for submitting petitions to run was rapidly approaching. Hope he doesn't miss it.
